“Two months of physio, massage and osteopathy did very little to help me with the pain from my injury. Just one session with Dr. Bodnar and the pain was greatly reduced.”

Natalie, Dartmouth.

At Bedford Chiropractic, our goal is to help people in Bedford, Halifax, Dartmouth, Sackville and Fall River/Waverley get out of pain and back to active lives. We offer several treatment options that each offers some benefits.

Joint manipulation (often referred to an adjustment) is a common part of chiropractic care. Bedford Chiropractic also offers additional treatment modalities, including: a Registered Massage Therapist, on-site rehabilitation facilities for training and learning home exercises, Graston Soft Tissue, Ergonomic and postural assessment, Ultrasound/IFC/Muscle Stim, etc.

Following an evaluation, including relevant medical history, consultation, and a physical exam (plus any additional tests that may be required), we develop a diagnosis. With a working diagnosis we can discuss treatment options and the prognosis with the patient, laying out a treatment plan.

The right combination of treatments is very individual. Our "evidence based" approach takes into account personal preference, research evidence and clinical experience.

Treatments include:

Joint mobilization / manipulation – the goal is to normalize joint motion using controlled movements. Multiple research studies have shown effectiveness often with immediate improvements in range of motion and/or pain.

Graston Graston Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. A newer treatment that is gaining a lot of athletic followers. The basic premise is to help alleviate scar tissue and adhesions that accumulate after an injury. Dr. Bodnar is Graston Certified.

Massage therapy – our registered massage therapist, Dawn Evong, uses a variety of different massage techniques to help relax tight muscles, loosen adhesions and improve blood flow. Massages can vary from the relaxing soft massage to the deep therapeutic massage or anything in-between.

Soft tissue therapy – different hands on muscle techniques that can include trigger point therapy, stretching, relaxation techniques etc. This is often included as part of a chiropractic treatment or massage therapy treatment.

Rehabilitation and Home exercises – Exercise is imperative for long term change. Treatment can take away the pain, but without some exercise effort it is very likely to return. We recommend corrective exercises, core stabilization, balance/proprioception, sports and performance, selfcare & prevention

KinesioTape – Another newer treatment modality, kinesiotape can be used to help stimulate support muscles or provide some stabilization.

Ergonomic and postural changes – learning how to avoid the pain and avoid re-injury. Ergonomics is the process of making your work fit you rather than you trying to fit the work.

We provide a detailed patient report and outline the most effective treatment plan to meet your needs.

Chiropractors are well known for treating back pain, but as specialists in non-surgical spine care, we also treat neck pain, headaches and whiplash. In addition, we treat almost any joint or muscle problems in the body, including: tendonitis, repetitive strain injuries, shoulder, elbow and wrist pain, carpal tunnel problems, hip, knee and ankle/foot pain.
